ÜLKA Premium 2.0 HEPA filter: the part that decides real suction

When a nail technician finds her dust collector "pulls less than it used to", the motor is almost never the cause. The filter is saturated. Filing dust gradually clogs the filter medium, resistance to airflow rises, and the flow rate collapses while the unit keeps running just as hard.

This HEPA filter is the replacement part for ÜLKA Premium 2.0 dust collectors. Changing it at the right time is what keeps the stated 4.4 m/s alive month after month.

When should it be changed?

Three signals, in the order they appear:

  1. Dry cleaning no longer restores the filter's appearance. This is the most reliable signal: the medium is clogged deep down, not just on the surface.
  2. Dust starts staying on the table during filing, even though the unit is on and the hand is well placed.
  3. Three months have passed since the last replacement, in regular professional use.

With a high client volume, going below three months is common. Better to keep a spare filter in the drawer than to work a week with degraded capture.

The two maintenance rules

Daily dry cleaning. A soft brush or an air blower, at the end of the day. This is the habit that doubles the filter's life, and the one people forget.

Never water. A washed HEPA medium is a dead HEPA medium: moisture spreads the fibres, the filter then lets through the fine particles it was meant to hold, and it never recovers its properties as it dries. A dirty filter gets replaced, not rinsed.

Frequently asked questions

Does this filter fit my ÜLKA dust collector?

It is made for the Premium 2.0, tabletop and built-in. It does not fit the first-generation Premium, the Aero, the Tornado, the Nano, the Tiny or the Handy: each of those has its own filter.

How often should the filter be replaced?

Roughly every 3 months in regular professional use, and sooner if suction drops or dry cleaning no longer does the job.

Can a HEPA filter be washed with water?

No. Water spreads the fibres of the filter medium, which then stops holding fine particles and does not recover as it dries. Cleaning is dry only.

How do you clean the filter daily?

With a soft brush or an air blower, at the end of the day, outside the unit. This is the habit that determines the filter's life.

Why does my dust collector pull less than before?

In the vast majority of cases, the filter is clogged. Clean it dry; if capture does not come back, replace it.

Does the built-in version need a different filter?

No. The same filter fits both versions of the Premium 2.0.

How many spare filters should I keep?

One spare filter per unit is a comfortable minimum, two if your client volume is high.
