The Cuticle nippers CLASSIC 12 - 8mm Staleks combine the silhouette of the 12 model with an 8 mm blade, the easiest length to live with day to day. 40X13 stainless steel and manual sharpening: the edge cuts clean, the skin does not tear. This is the nipper you pick to look after your own nails at home, or as a back-up instrument in occasional professional practice. Simple, sturdy, easy to clean and to maintain.
The Cuticle nippers CLASSIC 12 - 8mm Staleks are professional cuticle nippers designed to cut cuticles and hangnails, in manicure as well as pedicure. They belong to the CLASSIC 12 model and carry an 8 mm blade. Their mid-length blade makes them versatile, comfortable on the vast majority of hands. A direct tool: the cut first, and a grip you simply forget about.
When you put a kit together the trade-off is always the same: concentrate the budget on two or three premium instruments, or cover a broad range. The CLASSIC line makes the second option possible, with tools in 40X13 stainless steel whose edge comes from manual sharpening, at a price that lets you own a coherent nipper, scissors and pusher from day one. Staleks clearly places this range on the side of personal use and occasional practice: it is the home kit far more than that of a high-volume salon. A CLASSIC 12 in 8 mm makes an excellent anchor for it.
8 mm is the balance length: enough blade to follow the cuticle line without multiplying bites, little enough to stay in control close to the lateral folds. On the CLASSIC 12 model, this length is the next step after the 3 mm blade: you keep a familiar grip and you gain clearly in output along the cuticle line. It is also the format to remember if you are only going to own one nipper: it will never force you to choose between finesse and speed, and it copes with almost any nail, narrow or wide.
The quality of a cuticle cut is not judged by eye alone: it is judged by what the client feels. Skin cut cleanly causes nothing in particular; skin that is pulled, pinched or cut in several attempts causes an unpleasant sensation at the time and a hard regrowth a few days later. In practice: push back first, place the jaws flat, close fully, release, reposition. If the client reacts at every bite, it almost always means you are pulling rather than cutting, or reaching too far into living skin.
The question is fair, since this blade length exists in both families. The answer lies in the shape of the jaws and handles, and therefore in how the instrument sits in your hand and the angle from which it approaches the fold. The CLASSIC 12 has its own silhouette; the CLASSIC 10 uses the most widespread shape. Neither is superior: they are two ways of reaching the same result. If you are equipping a station, taking both in 8 mm is also a simple way to find out which one your hand prefers.
A nipper that is clean, dry and properly stored is half the job done. The basic routine has four steps: brush off residue with the jaws open under warm water, wash with soapy water, rinse, dry completely. The stainless steel of the CLASSIC range copes very well with that rhythm, provided the instrument is never put away damp. A nipper reserved for one person needs nothing more; the moment it were to pass from one person to another, a full professional hygiene protocol applies, with equipment intended for it.
Stainless steel resists corrosion, it is not immune to it. What attacks it is the moisture left in the joint after washing, especially if the instrument goes straight into a closed case. The habit: wipe it, let it dry with the jaws open for a few minutes, and only then put it away. Also avoid soaking the nipper for long periods: prolonged soaking improves nothing and tires the mechanism.
