For over 15 years, NC Beauty Pro has been offering beauty professionals, nail technicians, and hairdressers a wide selection of products at the best prices.
The Cuticle nippers CLASSIC 12 - 3mm Staleks are the shortest format of the selection: 3 mm of blade to aim precisely, pick up a hangnail in a corner and work narrow nails without ever biting into living skin. 40X13 stainless steel, manual sharpening, a simple mechanism: the CLASSIC range goes straight to the essentials. Staleks intends it for personal use or occasional professional practice, as a finishing instrument alongside a longer nipper.
The Cuticle nippers CLASSIC 12 - 3mm Staleks are professional cuticle nippers designed to cut cuticles and hangnails, in manicure as well as pedicure. They belong to the CLASSIC 12 model and carry a 3 mm blade. Their very short blade puts them firmly on the side of precision, which is reassuring as soon as the working area gets small. A sober instrument, with no frills, whose whole value lies in the quality of its edge.
On a very short-bladed instrument the question of line positioning deserves a straight answer. The CLASSIC offers 40X13 stainless steel and an edge sharpened by hand, which is amply enough for the touch-up and finishing work a 3 mm blade is meant for. Staleks places this range on the side of personal use and occasional practice, and that is exactly where a short nipper is most useful: alongside a main nipper, for retouching and for the areas you would rather not approach with a longer tool.
With a 3 mm blade, this nipper belongs to the shortest formats available. The cutting area is small, therefore easy to read and to control: you see exactly where the blade meets the skin and you remove a very small portion with each closing. This is the size usually recommended to nail technicians who are new to cutting cuticles, because it forgives hesitation, but also to experienced professionals for finishing work: leftover hangnails, the corners of the lateral folds, narrow nails, slim hands. The trade-off is simple: on a thick, extended cuticle you will need more passes, as the 3 mm clearly chooses precision over output.
A 3 mm blade is not there to travel around the nail, it is there to touch up. After a first pass with the long nipper there is almost always a snag in a corner, a hangnail at the lateral edge, a thread of cuticle the pusher lifted without detaching. That is where the short blade comes in: aim, place, cut once. The rule is not to go over it again: an area worked twice or three times always ends up bleeding. Better to leave one detail imperfect than to break the living skin around the nail.
The CLASSIC 12 model differs from the CLASSIC 10 in the shape of its jaws and handles. On a very short-bladed nipper that difference takes on particular relief: it determines whether your index finger sits naturally where you want it when you aim at a lateral corner. Some professionals immediately find their bearings with this silhouette, others prefer the 10 - and neither is wrong. It is not a question of quality but of hand, and it is settled through use.
Blade size changes nothing about hygiene: cleaning as soon as the treatment ends, rinsing, complete drying, dry storage, and an instrument that stays attached to a single person. A short tool does have one quirk: its fine jaws easily retain skin fragments that a quick rinse will not dislodge. Get into the habit of brushing it with the jaws open in soapy water, and of checking the tips visually before putting it away. Complete drying also prevents marks and pitting on the steel.
On a 3 mm blade everything comes down to a few tenths of a millimetre. Get into the habit, once a week, of closing the nipper against the light and checking that the two jaws meet perfectly, with no offset and no visible gap. Slight misalignment goes unnoticed during a service but explains skin that folds instead of being cut. Never try to straighten the jaws yourself: hand the nipper to a sharpener, who will restore the alignment along with the edge.
