STALEKS EXPERT 40 crescent mineral file 180/180 grit, the natural nail file

The STALEKS EXPERT 40 crescent mineral file in 180/180 grit carries the same abrasive on both of its sides. Nothing to choose before starting, nothing to check along the way: whichever side is laid on the nail, the work moves forward in the same way. That regularity makes it the file for work on the natural nail, the one that evens out a free edge, adjusts a length and prepares the plate before polish. Crescent cut in 162 × 25 mm, white mineral abrasive on a thin foam layer, stearate coating, disposable use: this is a file from the Staleks professional EXPERT line.

Two sides in 180 grit: no side to look for

When both sides carry the same 180 grit, the available working surface is doubled. In practice, as soon as one area loads with filing dust, you turn the tool over and carry on with the same bite, without changing your bearings and without re-adjusting your hold.

That detail counts over a full day. A dual-grit file forces you to identify the right side each time you pick it up; here the question never arises, and your eyes stay on the nail rather than on the tool. It is also what makes this reference reassuring in training: a student cannot pick the wrong side.

The steady stroke on natural nails

180 is the reference abrasiveness for finishing the natural nail. It shortens a little, evens out a line, softens a corner, without ever scratching or hollowing the plate. With two identical sides, the whole sequence runs at one abrasiveness, from the first finger to the last.

That consistency changes the hand: the pressure found on the little finger still holds on the thumb, the working angle does not shift, and all ten nails look alike at the end of the service. On a client coming in for maintenance, a soak-off and reapplication or a tidy-up before gel polish, that is often all you ask of a file.

Available individually or in a set of 25

The STALEKS EXPERT 40 file in 180/180 grit can be taken individually or in a set of 25. One unit is enough to judge the grit over a hand or two; the set of 25 matches what a station gets through when natural nails fill the day, every file in the same 162 × 25 mm format.

Single use is strict here: the file is opened in front of the client and goes in the bin as soon as the appointment ends. Nothing is disinfected, nothing is set aside for next time.

The crescent, a curve that falls right into the hand

The working edge of this file is convex: it draws a crescent, and that curvature matches the one the free edge already follows. You place the file, slide it from the side towards the centre, and the round falls into place without the wrist having to pivot. A straight file would require the movement to be cut into several segments to obtain the same line.

The crescent tapers towards both of its ends. These are what reach the corners, run along the sidewalls and pass underneath the free edge to remove the small lip of material left by the clipper, without digging into the skin. A crescent means two edges: the straight one sets the length and the precise shape, the curved one follows the cuticle area and the lateral folds.

What the EXPERT line brings to a single grit

  • Doubled surface: the same 180 on both sides, to be used right to the end.
  • Thin foam interlayer: a slim layer under the abrasive that takes up the pressure and makes contact with the plate more supple.
  • Stearate coating: filing dust builds up in the grit more slowly.
  • White mineral abrasive: the colour of the EXPERT line, the Staleks professional range.
  • Crescent: the curve of the working edge follows that of the free edge.
  • Disposable: one file per client, thrown away at the end of the service.

The file for an even free edge

With both sides in 180 grit, the STALEKS EXPERT 40 removes a decision and leaves all the room to the stroke. It evens out, it adjusts, it softens, always at the same intensity, on a curve that hugs that of the nail. It is the file you hand to a colleague without hesitating, and the one you reorder individually or in a pack of 25 because it serves every day.
