STALEKS EXPERT 51 disposable white files in 180 grit, the natural nail in a short format

The STALEKS EXPERT 51 disposable white files in 180 grit are the self-adhesive abrasive refills of the EXPERT 51 short nail file, in other words of the MBE-50 and SPBE-50 short bases. Each strip measures 76 x 18 mm and the pack holds 10 of them. This grit belongs to work on the natural plate: shaping, evening out the free edge, preparing the nail before gel polish. On a short holder its character changes: it becomes a detailing tool rather than a length tool.

What 180 grit does on a natural nail

It is the go-to abrasive as soon as the clippers are put down. It draws the requested shape, corrects length that varies from one finger to another, tidies up a damaged edge and leaves a cut regular enough to snag on nothing. It stays measured enough for the plate to come through unharmed, provided the nail is dry and no sawing motion is used.

On a nail reinforced with a thin layer of product, this grit corrects the outline without lifting the reinforcement. On a gel polish service, it settles the shape before colour, which saves having to touch the edge once the capping is done.

What the short format brings to this grit

A 76 x 18 mm strip is not held like a long file. The tool is gripped close to the nail, between thumb and index finger, and the movement comes from the fingers rather than the wrist. The immediate result is precision on everything small or awkward to reach.

Three situations benefit especially. Small nails, where a long file forces you to aim. Sidewalls, where you have to work close to the fold without touching the tissue. Targeted touch-ups, when a single edge needs attention and reaching for a full length tool would make no sense. This format also slips easily into a mobile kit for professionals working at their clients' homes.

On the MBE-50 and SPBE-50 short bases

These refills are cut for the two short holders in the range. The metal does not flex: the strip stays flat under pressure and the filing keeps a clean line even though the grip is short. The white face shows the dust being produced, letting you follow the progress of the work without interrupting the movement and spot the moment a brush is needed.

Why a pack of 10 rather than a large box

The buying logic is not the same as on a long format. The short file is rarely the tool for every stage: it comes in on precise movements, often alongside a straight base. Consumption is therefore slower, and a reserve of 10 strips matches that reality far better than a large box that would sit in the drawer for months.

It is also the right size to discover the system without committing a large budget, to complete a mobile kit or to keep a backup supply at a second workstation. And the underlying economics do not change: the short base is bought once, only the abrasive strip is renewed.

The abrasive is discarded, the short base is sterilised

A strip serves one client, then leaves with the waste from the appointment. It is not rinsed, not disinfected and never stuck back on once lifted. The short base follows the salon protocol instead: cleaning, disinfection, sterilisation, before it receives a fresh strip for the next appointment. That clean separation between the durable holder and the disposable consumable is what stops any nail dust travelling from one client to another.

Fitting and removing the abrasive strip

  1. Take a short base that is clean, dry and disinfected.
  2. Detach the film protecting the adhesive.
  3. Line the strip up on the base, then press from end to end to push the air out.
  4. Work the shape and the free edge, brushing the abrasive from time to time.
  5. Peel the used strip off by a corner and dispose of it.
  6. Return the base to the cleaning, disinfection and sterilisation cycle.
