STALEKS EXPERT 20 disposable white files in 150 grit, the shaping abrasive

The STALEKS EXPERT 20 disposable white files in 150 grit are the self-adhesive abrasive refills intended for the MBE-20 and SPBE-20 straight bases. A 140 x 18 mm format, a soft foam layer under the abrasive and a pack of 30 pieces: those are the specifications of the consumable. What sets 150 apart is where it sits in the workflow. It comes into play on the artificial nail once the bulk has been reduced, when the job is no longer to remove volume but to draw a shape just before finishing.

The moment the nail takes its shape

An artificial nail is built in two stages. The first is applying and then reducing the product; the second, the one that belongs to 150 grit, is giving it its geometry. This is where the sidewalls become genuinely parallel, where the lateral line straightens up, where an almond regains its point and a square earns its crisp corners.

This intermediate abrasiveness behaves exactly as that job requires: present enough to move product and correct an asymmetry, measured enough not to take away in a single pass what you are trying to adjust by a fraction. The shape arrives gradually, which leaves you time to step back, look at the nail head on and pick up where you left off.

Refining without digging in

The enemy of shaping work is the groove. An abrasive that bites too hard leaves deep marks that the finishing stage then has to erase, costing time and product. This grit works flatter, leaves a more even surface and prepares a gentle transition towards the fine abrasives.

It is also the grit of the blend line. On an infill, the junction between old and new product has to disappear completely, to the eye and to the touch; 150 grit melts that boundary away without hollowing out around it, which avoids the unflattering dip in the middle of the nail.

A 140 x 18 mm strip on a straight metal base

These strips are cut for the straight holders of the EXPERT 20 series. The MBE-20 and the SPBE-20 supply the rigidity: a straight line stays straight, which is precisely what a shaping tool has to guarantee. Without that stiffness, truly parallel sidewalls are out of reach.

The soft foam layer placed between the abrasive and the base supplies the other half of the equation. It allows a slight give under the finger, so the abrasive follows the curve of the nail plate rather than attacking only the crest. On the sidewalls and along the junction with the nail fold, that is what lets you stay accurate without being harsh on the surrounding tissue.

Sticking the abrasive on and peeling it off, service after service

  1. Check that the base is clean and disinfected before any application.
  2. Separate the 150 grit strip from its protective backing.
  3. Offer the strip up to the base, adjust the alignment of the edges, then press down gradually from end to end.
  4. Shape the nail, brushing the abrasive as soon as it loads up.
  5. Peel the used strip off by one corner and bin it with the service waste.
  6. Send the base for cleaning, disinfection and then sterilisation.

A strip that has been removed is never repositioned: its adhesive and its abrasive are designed for one service only. That is what guarantees that no nail dust and no gel residue travels from one client to the next.

Thirty strips for a heavily used grit

Shaping is part of every enhancement service, from a simple infill to a full set: this grit is therefore one of the fastest moving in a busy salon. The pack of 30 pieces matches that pace and lets you hold a clear reserve, grit by grit, in the workstation drawer. The arithmetic is straightforward: the base is bought once, only the abrasive is renewed, and the cost per service stays stable.
