Gel Polish HEYLOVE Iris: the violet plum of the Basic collection

Iris brings the cool violet note the deep shade series was missing. A very dark plum, in which the violet stays perceptible without ever becoming demonstrative, unlike saturated mauves.

Dark violet, a colour that divides less than you think

Clients readily refuse a pale violet, judged childish, but accept a deep plum far more easily. The reason lies in saturation: the darker a colour gets, the more it is perceived as neutral and dressed up. A very dark plum is worn like a burgundy, without anyone filing it under fantasy colours.

How to apply it

Cleansing with pH Bond HEYLOVE, primer Ultra Bond HEYLOVE laid on the edge and left to set in the air, then 30 to 60 seconds of lamp on Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear. Shake, then Iris in a thin veil and one minute of curing. Dark violets reveal the ridges of the plate: sort out the levelling before the colour.

In nail art

Dark plum makes a remarkable ground for silver decoration and fine white linework, which gain a contrast that pure black sometimes makes too harsh. Gold, by contrast, clashes with the cool cast: better to stay with cool metals to keep the set coherent.

On which hands it shows best

It particularly flatters cool skin tones, where the violet naturally extends the visible veins at the wrist. On warm skin it stays very wearable but reads more brown than violet, which is not necessarily a flaw.

When to suggest it

From autumn to the end of winter, and for every evening occasion. Its depth also makes it a good choice on hands whose regrowth is uneven between two appointments.

Who to recommend it to

Clients who say they dislike violet: on a plum this dark, the objection usually falls away as soon as it is laid on a tip.
