Gel Polish HEYLOVE La La Lovely: the lavender blue of the Basic collection

La La Lovely deliberately hesitates between two families. Too violet to be a true blue, too blue to be a lavender, it occupies an in-between that recent seasons have brought firmly back into fashion.

Why this kind of shade sells better than a pure blue

The answer lies in perception. A true blue is identified immediately as an assertive colour, which triggers reluctance in part of the clientele. A violet-leaning blue passes for a soft nuance, almost a pastel, and lifts the objection without losing any intensity. It is the same mechanism that makes greyed mauves more sellable than pure ones.

How to apply it

After a pass of pH Bond HEYLOVE and Ultra Bond HEYLOVE laid on the edge then dried on its own, Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear needs 30 to 60 seconds. Shake the bottle and apply La La Lovely in two thin veils, one minute each. Pale shades reveal irregularities: level before the colour.

Who to recommend it to

Clients who like the idea of blue without carrying its frankness, and those already wearing lilacs and mauves. It is also a good transition shade to bring a client settled in nude gradually towards colour.

What it lets you create

A finger-by-finger gradient with Gel Polish HEYLOVE Sky on the blue side and Gel Polish HEYLOVE Pink-a-boo on the lilac side, in a camaieu much requested in spring.

On which lengths

On short nails as on long, it keeps a crisp look and stays perfectly wearable day to day. It is also the easiest blue to have accepted as a full colour on a first proposal.

Which top to finish with

Gloss keeps the lavender fresh and readable. A matte finish shifts it towards a powdery register, closer to the neutrals of the range.
