Gelato opens the new collection with a pastel cream yellow, almost vanilla. Its milky softness takes it well away from bright yellows and brings it closer to a coloured nude than to an assertive colour.

Who to recommend it to

Clients who want to move beyond nude without going to frank colour, and those who like pastels but do not want to be limited to pinks and blues. Cream yellow has the advantage of looking deliberate, where a beige can read as an absence of choice.

Three yellows, three ways to wear them

The HEYLOVE catalogue now offers three, and they do not address the same clients. Gel Polish HEYLOVE Sunshine is a saturated golden yellow, frankly solar. Gel Polish HEYLOVE Citron is a pale tart yellow, greened. Gelato is the milkiest of the three, the one worn as a nuance rather than as a colour. For a client wary of yellow, this is where to start.

How to apply it

File, dust off, dry with pH Bond HEYLOVE. The primer Ultra Bond HEYLOVE goes on the edge and sets on its own, without the lamp. Thirty seconds are enough for Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear. Shake, then two thin veils of Gelato, one minute each. Pastel creams easily let the nail bed show through: the second coat guarantees a clean ground.

When to suggest it

From March to September, where its softness accompanies light clothing. It also makes a good summer pedicure colour, a register in which yellow is accepted with far less reserve than on the hands, and where wear is longer besides. It also makes a very legible ground for fine, dark linework, where saturated yellows tend to absorb the decoration instead of showing it off.
