Nail Forms HEYLOVE Ballerina: the hardest shape to sculpt

The ballerina is what clients ask for most, and it is also the most demanding shape to produce with a traditional form. Its sides must be perfectly parallel and its free edge perfectly perpendicular to the axis of the finger: two conditions a freehand rarely holds across ten fingers.

What the mould gains you here

More than on any other shape. On an almond, one side slightly more curved than the other goes unnoticed. On a ballerina the slightest asymmetry jumps out, because the eye is comparing two straight lines. The upper form removes the problem at source: the geometry is in the mould, it is identical across the ten fingers and across all your clients. It is the reference to start with if you only take one.

How to proceed

Buff with a 100 grit file, degrease with 96 per cent ethyl alcohol, dehydrator. Ultra Bond HEYLOVE over the whole plate, a thin coat of Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 20 seconds. Choose the size, apply builder gel inside the form, fix it on the nail and cure for one minute. Remove by pinching the sides, refine, remove the dispersion layer, then apply colour or top coat.

Alignment before the lamp

This is the check not to skip on this shape. Look at the finger head on before curing: the sides of the form must follow the axis of the finger, not that of the nail, which can be slightly deviated. A ballerina set on the axis of the nail rather than the finger gives a hand that looks visually crooked, and that cannot be recovered with a file.

Gel distribution

The printed markers show where to load the material. On a ballerina, thickness should concentrate at the stress zone and taper towards the flat free edge: that profile is what prevents breakage while keeping a fine edge to look at.
