Nail Forms HEYLOVE Stiletto: the point given by the mould

The stiletto converges towards a fine, centred point. It is easy to describe and hard to achieve: the point must fall exactly on the axis of the finger, and the taper must be even on both sides along the whole length.

Off-centring, the stiletto's number one fault

Every technician who has sculpted stilettos with traditional forms knows the problem. The point drifts a millimetre to the left, you correct with the file, you thin one side too much, and the nail ends up thinner on the right than on the left. The mould settles that question for good: the point is where it should be, symmetrical, and filing comes down to surface finishing.

How to proceed

Buffing with a 100 grit file, dusting off and degreasing with 96 per cent ethyl alcohol, dehydrator. Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, a thin coat of Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 20 seconds. Fill the inside of the form with builder gel, fix it on the nail, one minute under UV or LED. Remove by pinching the sides, refine with file or e-file, remove the dispersion layer, then colour or top coat.

Load the stress zone

On this shape more than the others, dosing determines how long it lasts. A fine point over an insufficiently thick base breaks at the first impact, and the client comes back. Follow the printed markers, which show precisely where the material should accumulate, and do not hesitate to load the stress zone more heavily even if you sand it back afterwards.

Who to offer it to

To short, broad fingers, which it visibly slims, and to clients who want an assertive shape. The stated flexibility of the material makes removal easier on this narrow profile, where a rigid form would come away badly.
