Gel Polish HEYLOVE Jam: the plum black of the Basic collection

Jam evokes dark fruit preserve, and the comparison holds: an almost opaque depth, run through with a plum note you sense more than you see. It is one of the two darkest shades of the collection.

Photographing a very dark shade

The problem is well known and costs sales. A near-black photographed with flash looks uniformly black, and all the nuance disappears. Photograph instead in daylight, near a window, angling the hand so a reflection crosses the nail. That reflection is what reveals the cast and creates desire. Without it, your photo of Jam will be identical to your photo of Grapes, and your clients will not understand why you offer both.

How to apply it

Dry the plate with pH Bond HEYLOVE, apply Ultra Bond HEYLOVE to the edge and let it set in the open air. Count 30 to 60 seconds of lamp for Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear. Shake, then Jam in a thin veil, one minute under the lamp. The density of the pigment makes a second coat rarely necessary.

Jam or Grapes

These are the two darkest of the collection and the distinction turns on very little. Grapes leans towards a frank violet, Jam towards a warmer, redder plum. Under artificial light the two are identical; in daylight, the gap becomes perceptible. If you take only one, Grapes covers the need for an alternative black.

Who to recommend it to

Clients who wear black but want a less radical variant, and those whose hands are heavily used: on these shades, wear is barely visible between appointments.

Which top to finish with

A glossy top deepens the plum and gives a lacquered effect. A matte finish turns it into a velvety near-black, markedly more contemporary and far less predictable.
