Gel Tips HEYLOVE Coffin Medium: the most requested shape

The medium-length ballerina, with its parallel sides and flat free edge, has dominated requests for several years. In medium length it gives the look clients want without the daily nuisance that long versions bring.

Why medium rather than long

This is the most useful advice you can give and it prevents a great many complaints. A client who sees a long ballerina on social media does not appreciate what it involves: typing, buttoning a garment, taking out a bank card all become gestures to relearn. In medium length the silhouette is identical in a photograph and daily life is unaffected. Offer this version first as a matter of course.

How to apply

Buffing with a 100 grit file, dusting off and degreasing with ethyl alcohol at 96 per cent minimum, dehydrator. Ultra Bond HEYLOVE over the whole plate, a thin coat of Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 20 seconds. Degrease the inside of the tip, apply Ultra Bond and a thin coat of base there, then press without curing that base first. One minute under the lamp.

The ballerina demands an even press

Its geometry requires this more than other shapes. The parallel sides mean any tilt during application shows immediately: the tip looks crooked when the discrepancy is half a millimetre. Press at the centre, check the alignment along the axis of the finger before going under the lamp, and only then cure.

The flat free edge, an asset for design

It offers a clean surface that shows off coloured french and geometric designs, and it has none of the fragility of a point. On a client who wants durable design work, it is the safest shape.
