Gypsum Gel HEYLOVE White: the texture gel that holds its shape

Gypsum Gel White is not a colour gel but a material gel. Its thick consistency keeps the marks you press into it, which is what lets you reproduce plaster render, honed stone or a weave. In white it is the most legible of the four: the relief reads through the shadows it casts.

A service you can charge for

Relief work occupies a particular place on a price list. It calls for neither a fine brush nor drawing skill, two things that take years to acquire, yet it produces a result the client cannot get anywhere else and will photograph. In other words it is an add-on accessible from your first years in practice, which is not the case with painted nail art.

Working the material

Lay your base colour and cure. Take the Gypsum Gel with a spatula and place it without stretching it, then build the texture while the material is still free: brush tip for a plaster effect, dabbed sponge for stone, crossed strokes with a flat brush for tweed. Cure for 30 to 60 seconds depending on how thickly you applied it. The short time is deliberate: the texture must be locked before it starts to slump.

The finish decides the result

This is the step most often missed. A glossy top over a plaster texture cancels the illusion: the surface reads as smooth again and the work disappears. Always finish with Top HEYLOVE Super Matte, or leave the texture bare if the relief is pronounced and the client accepts the upkeep. The contrast between a matte textured finger and a glossy smooth one is a design in itself.

White as a base for something else

Unlike the other three shades, white takes colour. Once the texture is cured, a veil of translucent Tint Base over the top tints the relief without filling it: you get pink, green or beige texture from a single jar. That is the argument for starting with this reference if you only buy one.
