Tint Base HEYLOVE Ash: the ashy grey of the Lifestyle collection

Ash pushes grey towards almost-black. A deep ash, very slightly brown, which gives the hand a markedly more graphic look than the light shades.

Ash or Elephant

Both are greys and look alike in the bottle. Tint Base HEYLOVE Elephant is a medium grey that stays discreet on the hand. Ash is far darker and reads as an assertive colour. On the same client, the first passes anywhere, the second asks to be owned. Laid side by side on tips in daylight the gap is obvious; described over the phone they are indistinguishable.

Photographing very dark shades

This is a difficulty every technician running a professional account meets. A deep grey photographed with flash becomes a flat black with no relief, and all the work disappears. Photograph it in daylight, looking for a reflection that crosses the surface: that reflection is what renders the depth of the shade and gives the shot its relief.

How to apply it

Degrease the plate thoroughly with pH Bond HEYLOVE. Lay the acid-free primer Ultra Bond HEYLOVE on the free edge and wait for complete drying. Apply a coat of Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear as a foundation and cure for 30 seconds. Then lay one or two coats of Tint Base, count 60 seconds of curing, then finish with the top coat.

An argument your clients will appreciate

Very dark shades mask the micro-scratches that appear over the days, where light colours reveal them. In practice, a dark set looks well kept for longer, which lets a client stretch her appointments without it showing.

When to suggest it

All year round, with a peak in the season that matches its temperature. Sales advice weighs more than the calendar here.

Which top to finish with

Gloss preserves the depth of the shade; a matte finish gives it a more contemporary look.
