Tint Base HEYLOVE Redwood: the deepest bordeaux in Met Gala

Redwood closes the collection with its darkest shade. A very deep bordeaux, near black in a dark room, which recovers its red cast the moment you expose it to light. That shifting behaviour gives it a quality the pale shades simply do not have.

The advantage of complete coverage

Its dense pigment means a single coat is usually enough for a perfectly opaque finish. That is a real time saving in the salon and a technical advantage too: less thickness means less risk of lifting and faster removal with the file.

How to apply it

Dehydrate with pH Bond HEYLOVE, apply Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, then Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 30 seconds, followed by Redwood in one coat at 60 seconds, adding a second only where needed. Clean the outline carefully before curing: on a shade this dark, the slightest mark on the skin shows.

Its place in the collection

Met Gala reads as a continuous gradient, palest to darkest: Tomato, Fire, True Red, Wine, then Redwood. If you take only two references from the series, Fire and Redwood cover both ends of the spectrum and answer almost every request. Redwood is the one most often missing from a stock, because deep bordeaux shades are rarely well covering.

Which nails it suits best

On short nails it gives a crisp, assertive and very current result. On long almond or ballerina shapes it turns decidedly dramatic. To soften it, pair it with a pale shade from the Nuts collection on one or two fingers: the contrast between Tint Base HEYLOVE Almond and Redwood works remarkably well. Pair it with a single accent finger in a lighter shade and the whole set gains structure without losing its impact. It is also a strong choice for evening events, where deep shades photograph better than bright ones.
