Tint Base HEYLOVE Fire: the reference red

Fire is the central red of Met Gala and probably the most requested shade in the collection. Its strength lies in leaning nowhere: no orange as in Tomato, no raspberry as in True Red, none of the bordeaux depth of Wine. A bright, saturated, direct red.

Why neutral red is the hardest to formulate

Nail technicians know it well: a red that shifts is a red that will not sell. Too warm and it looks dated, too cool and it hardens the hand. Neutral red is the only one that suits every skin tone and every nail length, and it is the one to keep in stock when you can only keep one.

How to apply it

After pH Bond HEYLOVE and Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, apply Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear, cure for 30 seconds, then one or two coats of Fire at 60 seconds each. Two thin coats always beat one thick one on a red: dense pigment is unforgiving of build-up around the cuticle area.

What dense pigment brings

The brand describes Tint Base pigmentation as dense and covering the free edge. In practice you reach a solid, opaque finish without stacking coats, and above all a coloured nail edge without going back over it with the brush. It is the finish of that edge which separates professional work from approximate work.

When to suggest it

It carries through every season without ever looking out of place. Business meetings, weddings, end-of-year celebrations: a straight red is a safe bet. On a long almond shape it turns decidedly dressy; on a short square nail it stays crisp and contemporary. It is also the shade to recommend for a first coloured set on a client used to nudes: straight red reassures where a fashion colour worries. It is also the shade that empties fastest in a busy salon, which makes it worth stocking in duplicate rather than as a single bottle.
