Tint Base HEYLOVE Plum: the pastel lavender of the Juicy collection

Plum carries a misleading name: you expect a deep plum, you get a pale lavender. It is a lightened violet, soft, a long way from the rich mauves the name suggests. Worth flagging before ordering, and worth filing among the pale mauves on your display rather than among the deep shades.

Pale violet, a rising value

Lavender has settled durably into client requests, carried by fashion trends. Its advantage is being perceived as a colour without carrying the weight of one: present enough to be noticed, pale enough to remain compatible with a professional setting. That is a rare compromise in the palette.

How to apply it

Standard routine: pH Bond HEYLOVE, Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 30 seconds, then one or two coats of Plum at 60 seconds each. Pale violets reveal surface irregularities: attend to levelling before the colour rather than after.

In a coloured French

Lavender works remarkably well as a coloured smile line over a pale nude base. The contrast stays soft, which avoids the dated effect a heavily marked French sometimes produces. Over a base such as Tint Base HEYLOVE Ivory, the result is fresh without being childish, and suits an adult clientele.

On which shapes and lengths

It gives a very soft result on short rounded nails, and becomes markedly more assertive on a long almond. For a graphic set, pair it with Tint Base HEYLOVE Smoothie, whose rosy lilac creates a subtle gradient from finger to finger. The progression also works in reverse, from deepest to palest, depending on the effect you want on the hand.
