Gel Polish HEYLOVE Alarm: the orange red of the Basic collection

Alarm is the palest and brightest point of the HEYLOVE red family. Its orange cast brings it close to coral and gives it a luminosity that neutral reds never reach.

The red that is worn in broad daylight

That is what really sets it apart. Deep reds call for the evening, dark clothes and dimmed lighting. An orange red works the other way round: it gives its best in natural light, on tanned skin, with pale clothing. It is the red of holidays and terraces, not of winter dinners, and that determines the time of year to push it.

How to apply it

Drying with pH Bond HEYLOVE, primer Ultra Bond HEYLOVE laid on the edge and left to set in the air, then 30 to 60 seconds of lamp on Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear. Shake vigorously before opening: the pigments of a bright red settle quickly. Two veils of Alarm, one minute each, give a more even finish than a single generous pass.

Alarm or Danger

Both are bright and the confusion is frequent in a catalogue. Alarm leans towards orange and looks paler to the eye, Danger stays on a neutral, deeper cherry red. On a tanned hand, Alarm extends the tan while Danger contrasts with it. If you take only one for the summer, it is Alarm; for the whole year, it is Danger.

Which sets it works for

As a full colour on short nails it stays graphic without being demonstrative. It is also an excellent summer pedicure colour, where the orange extends the tan. It is one of the rare shades that sells better on the feet than on the hands.

Which top to finish with

A glossy top gives the orange red its full luminosity. A matte finish, on the other hand, dulls a shade whose whole appeal rests on light.
