Tint Base HEYLOVE Borjomi: the shimmer milky blue of Pop Drinks

Borjomi is a sky blue softened by a milky veil and run through with a silver shimmer. It brings the only cool note to a collection otherwise dominated by pinks and creams, which makes it a useful counterpoint in any assortment.

Shimmer is not glitter

The distinction is worth making in front of the client, because it heads off a frequent misunderstanding. Glitter consists of particles clearly visible to the eye, each catching the light individually and creating relief. A shimmer, as here, is a far finer powder dispersed through the body of the product: it produces a continuous, smooth glow with no grain under the finger. The result stays dressed, never festive.

How to apply it

Dehydrate with pH Bond HEYLOVE, apply Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, lay down Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear and cure for 30 seconds. One or two coats of Borjomi, 60 seconds each. On shimmer shades, avoid overworking the product with the brush: the particles settle more evenly in one continuous movement.

Shimmer and regrowth

This is a quiet but real advantage of shimmer shades: the scattering of the particles slightly blurs the perception of the regrowth line. On a set worn for four weeks, the boundary at the cuticle is less noticeable than on a matte coat of the same colour. A concrete argument for clients who stretch their appointments.

Where it gives its best

In direct light, where the silver wakes up against the blue ground. It is a spring and summer shade, particularly flattering on fair skin, and a good alternative to a matte blue for a client who finds flat colours dull. Under dim lighting, by contrast, it closes down and reads almost as a bluish grey. On short nails a single well-spread coat is often enough, which keeps the set thin and comfortable over several weeks of wear.
