Ombre Sponge HEYLOVE: the consumable of the fade

The sponge is the wear part of the ombre system. It fits into the Sponge Holder HEYLOVE and takes the gel from the Nail Cushion kits, dosed through the grid in the pot.

Why replace it often

This is the point people neglect, and it explains most disappointing fades after a few weeks of use. A sponge gradually loads with cured gel over successive passes under the lamp. Its surface hardens, the cells clog, and it stops releasing the material evenly: the fade becomes patchy instead of blended. The natural reflex is to blame the gel or your own gesture, when the problem is the sponge.

Ideally one per shade family

That is the other reason to keep spares. A sponge used for a burgundy leaves traces on a pastel, even after cleaning: the cells retain pigment. On pale colours that contamination shows immediately. Setting aside one sponge per shade family avoids the problem entirely, and at this price it is not a significant expense.

How to use it

Fit the sponge into the holder, load it through the dosing grid of the pot, then dab onto the nail with small vertical movements, from the free edge towards the cuticle. Never load it directly by dipping it into the pot: the quantity becomes uncontrollable and that is where the excess comes from.

Keep a stock

Running out of sponges in the middle of a working day means either doing without the ombre or doing it badly. It is a small item, cheap, but essential to a service you charge for. Reorder before the last one is worn out.

A word on wear

Glitter does not fade, it dulls: the top coat above it scratches, and the sparkle goes with it. That is why the quality of the seal decides how long the set stays impressive, far more than the gel underneath.
