Top HEYLOVE Dark Story: so that black stays black

Dark Story answers a problem every nail technician knows without always identifying it: a black applied impeccably that, once sealed, is no longer quite black. The brand formulated this top coat to avoid precisely that shift.

What happens under a standard top coat

UV filters and certain components of glossy top coats carry a cast of their own, imperceptible on a mid-tone colour but visible at the extremes. On a black it shows as a brownish or bluish veil that breaks the depth. On a neon it kills the fluorescence and the colour loses exactly what made it worth choosing. That is why a neon set often looks less vivid on the way out than it did going on.

The sets that call for it

Blacks first, neons next, and more broadly every heavily saturated colour: true reds, electric blues, bright greens, fuchsias. On these shades, the difference between this top coat and an ordinary one is visible to the naked eye, with no need for a side-by-side comparison.

How to apply it

Thin coat from cuticle to free edge, or as the design requires, then the lamp. No dispersion layer to remove. On dark shades, take care over the outline near the cuticle before curing: excess top coat over a black creates a glossy thickness that is immediately noticeable.

Dark Story or No Sticky

The question arises with every set and the answer is simple. Pale shades, whites, french and milky sets go to Top HEYLOVE No Sticky, which does not yellow them. Darks, neons and saturated colours go to Dark Story, which does not veil them. Having both on the station covers the entire colour catalogue with no compromise.
