Smart Gel HEYLOVE Calm: the greyed mauve of the Smart Gel range

Calm brings the cool note that was missing from a family dominated by warm tones. A mauve heavily softened with grey, almost neutral, which stays in the natural register while introducing a nuance the other references do not have.

The only cool gel in the range

That singularity makes it a complement rather than a competitor to the other shades. On a client with cool undertones, for whom golden taupes look yellow, Calm is often the only one in the series that genuinely works. In a limited assortment it earns its place through that singularity rather than through its depth.

The test that settles it in ten seconds

Faced with two neutral gels, the client hesitates every time. Look at the inside of her wrist: if the veins look bluish, her undertone is cool and Calm will blend naturally. If they lean green, steer instead towards Smart Gel HEYLOVE Aesthetic or Smart Gel HEYLOVE Balanced. That quick test makes the advice credible and avoids redoing a set.

How to apply it

After filing and dust removal, pH Bond HEYLOVE dries the plate in thirty seconds. Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear goes on as a thin coat then is completed to smooth the surface, and cures in 30 seconds. Remove its dispersion layer, especially at the cuticle. Calm then goes on as an architectural layer: 30-second flash, then one minute with both hands together. Remove the sticky layer, refine the free edge with a file to create thickness, then apply the top coat for one to two minutes.

With which decoration

Silver linework and fine white lines suit it better than gold, unlike the rest of the range: its cool cast agrees with cool metals. It is a singularity worth knowing when composing a complete set.
