Tint Base HEYLOVE Wine: the bordeaux that keeps its light

Wine is a bordeaux shot through with raspberry. That is what separates it from classic bordeaux shades, which usually run brown or purplish: it holds a rosy cast that keeps it from falling into pure darkness. Under strong light it lets a bright red show through; indoors it closes back down towards deep wine.

The difference with Redwood

Tint Base HEYLOVE Redwood is markedly darker and more closed. Where Wine remains a colour you identify at once, Redwood approaches near-black in low light. If your client hesitates between the two, the question to ask is simple: does she want the colour to be seen, or the hand to read as dark and graphic?

How to apply it

Standard routine: pH Bond HEYLOVE, Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 30 seconds, then one or two coats of Wine at 60 seconds. On dark shades, watch the thickness along the sidewalls: that is where build-up shows most.

Which top coat to finish with

The choice of top changes the result substantially. Top HEYLOVE Wow Glossy gives a lacquered-glass effect that deepens the bordeaux. Top HEYLOVE Super Matte turns it into dark velvet, a very different finish that erases the raspberry cast. Top HEYLOVE Black Side darkens the shade further still, for a more dramatic result.

When to wear it

This is a cold-season shade above all, at home in autumn and through the winter holidays. It reads especially well on fair hands, where the contrast works fully, and on longer nails where the depth of the colour has room to express itself. On short nails it stays perfectly wearable but loses some of its sense of material. On a client who alternates between nudes and colour, it makes an elegant seasonal transition without committing her to anything too bold.
