Tint Base HEYLOVE Quartz: the cool pink of the Nude Collection

Quartz sits on the cool side of pink. The precision matters: most nude pinks on the market are warm, which is to say they lean towards peach or coral. A cool pink leans instead towards blue, producing a crisper, more luminous result on the nail plate.

What a cool colour means, in practice

Look at the inside of your client's wrist. If the veins appear bluish, her undertone is cool and shades like Quartz blend into it naturally. If they lean green, the undertone is warm and a cool pink risks creating a hard contrast. That ten-second test saves a good deal of rework and makes your advice credible.

How to apply it

Dehydrate with pH Bond HEYLOVE, apply Ultra Bond HEYLOVE, then Rubber Base HEYLOVE Clear cured for 30 seconds, followed by one or two coats of Quartz at 60 seconds. Two coats give a more assertive pink, a single one keeps the translucency and the nude effect.

What a single coat changes

On a cool pink, thickness drives the perceived temperature. Applied thinly, the translucency lets the natural pink of the nail come through and softens the coolness of the formula. In two coats the blue cast takes over decisively. You therefore have two shades in one bottle, to adjust to the skin tone in front of you.

When to suggest it

It is a spring shade above all, but it works year-round for a clientele that wants pink without the childish edge. It also makes a very clean ground for a sophisticated French, where the smile line stands out more than it would over a beige. On short square nails its freshness reads crisp and thoroughly current. Shown side by side with a warm pink on two adjacent fingers, the difference in temperature becomes obvious in a couple of seconds.
